Tapping for burnout in healthcare

Jill Wener·Sep 18, 2024· 1 minute

Every time I lead one of my Women in Healthcare Meditation Retreats, I am struck by just how many of the women, many of whom are doctors, are experiencing burnout. They’re tired, and they’re fed up. Many of them are looking for ways to get out of healthcare, and even more striking, many of them don’t even have the energy to realize that they are allowed to make changes.

This is actually a really common thing for doctors and other healthcare professionals… it’s too common. And trying to take good care of patients when you’re burned out is one of the most draining, difficult things to do. It can lead to serious mental health issues, and it can also lead to worse outcomes for patients.

Because burnout can bring a complex mix of emotions, watch as I demonstrate a technique that can be helpful to process burnout that’s different from how we usually approach tapping- you can focus on the physical sensations of the exhaustion and burnout, rather the emotions themselves.
