How to Pick Your Topic to Tap On

Tapping is extremely versatile and flexible, and it can be used for pretty much anything. Here are some of the ways tapping can be used:

*Trauma and PTSD

*Phobias

*Sleep

*Any distressing emotions, such as anxiety, shame anger, etc

*Processing grief

*Processing breakups

*Making difficult decisions

*Getting rid of self-limiting beliefs

*Manifesting things that you want

*Regulating yourself- if you're feeling really activated or triggered by something you can use tapping to calm yourself down

*Helping kids with their emotions and stresses

*Acute and chronic pain- both the emotional and the physical aspects of the pain

Because there's so much that tapping can be used for, it might be hard to decide what you’re going to tap on.

Here are some pointers:

First off, I highly recommend that you do any trauma work in a one-on-one session with a trained tapping practitioner because it’s not really conducive or safe to process trauma on your own. In addition, phobias, particularly if they’re severe, should also be addressed by a trained tapping practitioner.

Other than trauma and phobias, you can tap on anything at all that's bothering you! If you’re just starting out, I recommend that you start with an emotion about something specific that's bothering you. For example:

“I'm angry that my kids didn't make their beds this morning”

“I’m frustrated at all the traffic”

“I’m overwhelmed at all the work I have to do”

“I'm anxious about a presentation I have to give tomorrow”

“I feel shame that I'm not a good enough parent/spouse”

Remember: keep it simple, and try to keep it specific when possible.

If you’re just beginning, I advise you to start simple with a basic emotion, and then as you get some familiarity and experience with tapping, you can tap with kids, you can use it to make difficult decisions or process big life changes, or you can use it for any of the other situations that I mentioned above.
